Relaxed Mediterranean garden, Les Vans, Southern France
The Place – This project is a private house in the wild part of the Cevennes hills in Southern France. This is a very relaxed garden which includes a vegetable garden, Magnolias and a simple terrace and pergola. The perfect outdoor Mediterranean room.
The Brief – We were asked create a simple outdoor space which can come alive during the vibrant Spring and summer months. Cut flowers was imperative as well as easily managed vegetables.
The Design – Our design is simple and effective using hazel and chestnut harvested from site and simple raised vegetable beds to grow a supply of cut flowers and vegetables. A simple space of decomposed granite allows for a relaxed extension of the terrace which has been planted loosely with Mediterranean aromatic plants such as rosemary and lavenders.
