Uganda from the air. Very inspiring densities of planting.
The Landscape Studio are working with AWF and Studio FH Architects to develop two designs for two schools on the edge of the Kidepo National Park on the border between Uganda and South Sudan.
The setting for the two school range from one location right next to the park (Geremech School) and a more Agricultural setting (Sarachom School). Our responses in the landscape need to be very sensitive to the wider environment and encourage a learning and embracing of the natural habitat as per the ethos of the African Wildlife foundation.
Our designs see a series of outdoor classrooms and simple play and sitting areas.
The project is currently under construction and due to its very remote location its always fun to have to fly in to check out progress!
A remarkable 10 acre site right on the River Nile just downstream as it leaves Lake Victoria. The client’s brief is a sensitive proposal which is dictated by a strong ley-line of a 23.5 degree East-West alignment which must determine the key circulation and organisation of spaces in the design proposal.
The key idea is the more formal central circulation path needs to lead down to the river, following the ley-line with smaller secondary paths leading around the exciting site. These paths must come across seating areas or areas of discovery such as a stone bench. or a view point.
We are currently in design stage.
